group of terrified settlers fleeing for their lives. This includes a horse
and cart with a mother and child aboard, being driven by a brave young
girl while the son drags the reluctant milk-cow along behind. Among the
rest of the group is a husband dragging his wife, a girl running with her
skirts hitched up, a mother cradling her baby, and a young boy carrying
a sack. Meanwhile, another man loads his musket, another turns
to fire, one runs with his musket, while another shouts "get back", and
yet another kneels to take aim. Altogether fifteen figures plus a horse
